Rope Access Work_Removing Large Size Sign Channel Of Yuhan Corporation in O Chang, Korea.

Have you ever seen this kind of super big sign in your life?

Well,
I had to go O-Chang early morning for requiring more technicians needs from my teammate. Its sign originally formed as neon and should be changed to LED and fixed.
Each channel of signs had 40 neons in it which are huge amount.
It's size of 6m vertically and horizontally, and more over the biggest mark has size of 9m each dimension.
Changing old neon sign to new LED is very efficient at the view point of saving energy.
Over all nation, there are a lot of work to change their lighting system as LED.
When it use neon, each transform consume 1A, it use 220W per hour, that means each channel spend 8.8kWh. so total channel including is 5, it's giant channels spending 44kWh.

Before removing the last mark hanging on the wall alone. 

Because it's so heavy weight that we had to tie the pulley supporter with several assisting ropes in order to not give damages to the wall.
and because we tighten the wall so strongly, the wall was leaned slightly. but without strong support, we couldn't assume that we can pull the mark down to the ground with 300kg double winches. If any problem happen during removing it, we had to stop using winches and conduct it using crane. 

Under construction of removing the biggest mark with 300kg double pulleyman winches.

Finally, we finished all preparations for hanging this super channel. Because this is too big and heavy, we should be careful about overload of the machines and collapsing the wall which we hang the mechines. So, slightly, little by little, he put the switch on for lifting. and it was a vital that we had to stay a side of the ropes which were connected to the other side of wall. In any case, it had possibility to tear the ropes off. Nobody wanted to fall down with it. With communicating to the people who pulled the assist bar hanging to the mark from the below, heavy monster was smoothly lifted it up and put to the ground.

As you can see the below photo, there was steel structures welded to the wall and it was also welded to back side of the mark. so it should be disconnected by grinding before we put it down. and it was so narrow space only 50 centi meter width. I hope to brace the man who done this job well. thank you!! mate

After disconnecting all channels from the wall, we chose to use crane instead of using double pulley man for safety. so 100ton crane operator came to the site and presume whether it would work or not. As he convinced it would work without any problem, we were able to disassemble all the structures which installed on the wall, arrange tools and move it from the rooftop to the ground. During we arranged, the other people from the ground were preparing to renovate the signs. they were busily dissembling the covers from the frame and tear the LED boxes.
